Homeschool Kindergarten Resource Books

With the school year quickly approaching it’s time to start planning. Homeschool books are the best resources, especially for kindergarten youngsters!

Kindergarten is just right around the corner and we couldn’t be more pumped! I’ve got just a bit more of preparation to do and then we will be all set and ready to roll.

Unless something changes I have our start date set at August 3rd for the 2020-2021 school year. Lately I’ve been working on putting together our first unit study for the fall and learning a lot myself in the process.

Unit studies can be done many different ways but I’d say the number one most utilized resource is BOOKS!

I’m sure we will accumulate many more homeschool books over the years but everyone needs a starter set, am I right?

This post contains affiliated links which means if you make a purchase I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. See my full disclosure HERE.

The Usborne Children’s Encyclopedia

I bought the Usborne Children’s Encyclopedia last year through a friend on Facebook. She was hosting an UBAM party and I bought it on a whim.

To be completely honest I did hesitate before adding to my cart for a couple of reasons.

1.) It was a bit pricy.

2.) The book said 8+ on the specifications.

I’m so glad I went with my gut though and bought this children’s encyclopedia anyway! It is the most informative and engaging reference book I’ve seen yet.

My favorite aspect about this book is the incredible photography as well as the QR internet links throughout. If you have the free QR app on your phone and hover over the code then you’ll find additional information or videos. So neat!

Nature Anatomy

Here we go guys!!! Best book ever!

Aside from the children’s encyclopedia the Nature Anatomy book by Julia Rothman is simply the best ever.

I cannot get over how beautifully Ms. Julia illustrated this book. I think what draws me in the most is how aesthetically calming the pages are. Ms. Julia herself hand painted the illustrations with watercolor and done a remarkable job.

This book hits the high points on nature and is a great one to use for all nature related studies.

The Usborne Outdoor Book

The Usborne Outdoor Book came as a set with the following two below. I bought them in my huge Usborne Book Haul last year and have been saving them for this year!

I really love this book because it’s a bit different than the other resource books in this post. Not only is it very informative but also full of activities!

You’ll find a little bit of everything in here from seashore activities to camping, bird watching, sky gazing and more!

I know this outdoor book will keep us entertained throughout Wyatt’s Kindergarten year.

Usborne Look Inside Nature

The Usborne Look Inside Nature book is so much fun! We love lift the flap types of books so this one fits right in.

Each page has so much going on and just when you think you’ve seen it all there’s more hidden within.

My favorite page is titled, “From a tiny seed…” It walks you through the stages of how a bean seed grows into a fully grown plant.

The Usborne Nature Journal

Last in the list is this ADORABLE nature journal. Everyone needs a journal to record their findings on nature walks and this one is simply beautiful.

Unlike many other journals The Usborne Nature Journal has so much variety. There are a combination of lined, unlined and dotted grids so you can choose whatever suits you fancy!

Something I also love about this journal is the pretty illustrations throughout.

Since my Kindergartener can’t exactly write in sentences yet I will likely help him out during the start of the year but I’m sure he will be glad to draw his own pictures within.

I look forward to watching his progression in pen control over the year in this little journal.
